Holme Valley Garden
This garden is situated in the remote landscape above Holmfirth surrounded by stark moorland at 1,719 feet (524 metres) above sea level.
We have been working to sensitively carve out spaces amongst an existing woodland, planted by the client 20 years ago, to form calm sequences with views of the wider landscape and allow space for ground flora - whilst axial geometry juxtaposes the rolling hills. We are also creating a sheltered, more ornamental garden to the house that brings in elements of the wilder landscape through large swathes of naturalistic grasses and opening up views to a grand Sycamore that sits upon the hill. The clients have a deep spiritual connection with the land - this has been materialised with the creation of a large labyrinth at the centre of the garden to ground oneself within its heart.
